Paul McCartney, a member of the British legendary band The Beatles, said he knows BTS.
Paul McCartney appeared in the talkshow “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” broadcast on CBS (USA) September 23 (US time).
On that day, MC Stephen Colbert asked Paul McCartney, “Are you ever stunned by the reach of your work?. Next, he also asked, “Do you know the Korean Pop band BTS?”, at the same time introducing that they are the biggest thing on the planet right now.
Paul McCartney replied, “Yeah so I’ve heard” and Stephen Colbert showed him the video of BTS joining “The Late Show” on May 16. In the video, as for MC Stephen’s question about the group’s favorite one among The Beatles’ songs, BTS members immediately sang “Hey, Jude” as a response.
Paul McCartney both proudly smiled and concentrated on watching BTS passionately and joyfully singing the song “Hey, Jude”. Afterward, when MC Stephen asked, “What do you think it is about your music that transcends geographic and language barriers so that those 7 guys just jumped up and started the “nah-nah-nah”?”, the legendary singer answered, “Easy lyrics”.
At the time of their participation in “The Late Show” in May, BTS became a hot topic thanks to the group’s appearance reminiscent of Ed Sullivan Show, the US’ first TV show that The Beatles engaged in. Stephen Colbert introduced BTS as “a star appearing 55 years 3 months and 6 days after The Beatles.”
