BTS is the first Korea artist and also the only among artist around the world to achieve more than 4 million album sales in 2019.

On September 5, United World Chart (UWC) published its global chart report, which analyzed the typical album charts of each country such as the US (Billboard, Nielsen Music), UK (OCC), Japan (Oricon), etc.

According to UWC Media Traffic, BTS got a sale achievement of 4.01 million copies sold with the mini-album “MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA” released in April. Thus, the album has led worldwide sales this year alone.

As such, BTS is the first Korea artist and also the only among artist around the world to achieve more than 4 million album sales in 2019. This is a record set by the group with only 1 album within 5 months of release.

The group also surpassed all well-known foreign singers. Billie Eilish with “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” (3.13 million copies), Ariana Grande with “Thank U, Next” (2.56 million copies), etc. all were ranked behind BTS.

If considering only first-week album sales in 2019, BTS also achieved the highest sales on UWC. 2.5 million copies of “MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA” has been sold after a week of release and this is also the 6th highest achievement ever.

Besides, the boys are widely-beloved in the US. According to the latest chart released by Billboard, they have three albums charting on Billboard 200 at the same time.

Firstly, ”MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA” has retained on this chart for 20 consecutive weeks at the 150th position. Along with that, ”BTS World OST” and ”LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer”’ were named at No.182 and No.197, respectively.

Not only that but BTS also held the record with the longest-running No.1 on Billboard’s Social 50 chart. The group dominated the chart for 112 consecutive weeks among the 142 weeks that they topped the chart.
